Android appeals to me, and Apple, more and more not.

Android embodies the principles of open source - that of openness, extensibility, and freedom by the individual to “do what he wants”.
Companies are competing in open combat, all equipped with the same weapons, allowing true Darwinian forces to exert themselves. If you followed articles, some of the things that Google has done may even potentially be detrimental to Google itself.
This is in stark contrast to Apple, which, under the guise of celebrating and encouraging the underdog, creativity and individuality (Think Different) and appealing to man’s innate desire for freedom and liberty (Super bowl commercial, “..why 1984 won’t be like 1984″), actually adopts the very practice that it supposedly is supposed to fight against.
For me, how they tap into your sub conscious to create that innate emotional appeal, while actually leading you in the opposite direction, is absolutely galling.
